Paris Go Tournament 2009 - April 11 to 13

Udarbejdet søndag d. 22. marts 2009 af

Dear European Federations representatives,

As usual, the 37th International Paris Go Tournament will take place in Easter, from Saturday April 11th to Monday the 13th, 2009.

After the European annual Go Congress, it is the largest Go Open Tournament in Europe. It regularly brought more than 300 players from nearly 20 different countries.

We expect the best European Go players to compete for the final of the “European Pandanet Cup 2008-2009”, last of several 21 tournaments played across Europe which aims at rewarding with prices the best European Go players.

In case you can not attend this event, you will be able to follow the top group most interesting games on the Internet through IGS / Pandanet and some of the rounds will be also broadcasted live by EuroGoTV.

The Paris Go Tournament is open to all Go players of any level, and traditionally includes:

- a main tournament with 6 rounds (depending on the EGF rules);

- a blitz tournament;
- a best young players classification;
- a best team classification.

A lot of prizes (Euros and material) will be offered for best players , especially for those who will win more than 4 rounds.

Special events will be proposed such as :

- M. NOGUCHI Motoki, 2008 French Champion, will dedicate in exclusivity his new Go book (in French – 550 pages),
- Demonstrations of Asian games, especially shogi;
- Catalin Taranu, 5Dan Professional Go Player, will be present during the tournament notably to comment some tournament games.

This year again, the tournament will take place on the resplendent Paris XIII° Arrondissement City Hall, in the prestigious "Salle des Fêtes".

The 2009 Paris Go Tournament is organized by the French GO Federation, with the help of voluntary workers.

All information are available on the website : http://paris2009.jeudego.org

Translations in several European languages will be available (Please excuse me in advance about the mistakes on your native language and corrections will be done as soon as possible).

We advise people to pay the registration before the tournament to benefit of special price conditions.

Yours Faithfully,
